Our Commitments
Our approach is based on a strong ethic: to ensure the health and wellbeing of our customers in a sustainable and environmentally conscious way.
Sève operates entirely autonomously thanks to a state-of-the-art solar panel and battery system, allowing the
property to produce and manage its own energy independently.
This founding choice reflects a deep commitment to developing a more balanced model of hospitality, in harmony with the environment that surrounds it.
This approach naturally involves a thoughtful and intelligent management of resources such as water and
electricity.
Lodges
Energy
- All rooms are powered by solar panels.
- Water flow in the bathrooms features a water regulation system to prevent misuse.
- Use of LED lamps.
Decoration
- Built exclusively by local craftsmen.
- Upcycling of local organic materials.
- When the towels in our rooms start to spoil, we donate them to local communities. Items no longer in optimum condition start a second life in the form of tea towels.
Care
- We use ecological cleaning products throughout the rooms and bathrooms.
Hospitality products
- We have selected a brand of local welcome products (soap, shampoo, shower gel). The products are made in the Yucatan Peninsula by local artisans.
- Pre-ground coffee is offered in the room to avoid the waste produced by the use of single-use capsules. Tea is also available in bulk in the rooms; a reusable filter is offered instead of teabags.
- We provide our customers with glass water bottles that we refill every day to prevent the misuse of plastic.
- In the room, our guests can find tips about some basic gestures they can put in place during their stay at the hotel to reduce their carbon footprint.
The Hotel
Energy
- Our hotel is equipped with solar panels.
- Our taps are equipped with aerators to reduce water use. The aerator is a small system attached to the water tap that reduces the flow rate.
- A natural circulation of air made possible by elevated architecture.
Decoration
- The wood used in the hotel for decoration is gathered from the hotel’s grounds.
- We work with local artisans to create organic decorations. Each element is offered to us by the surrounding nature.
The shop
- In our shop, we seek to highlight brands that we love, that are innovative and eco-responsible: eco-designed and ethical clothing, made in the Yucatan and the Mayan Riviera as well as small, handcrafted items produced in Mexico.
- In order to avoid unnecessary printing, we have opted for an “on-demand” option for the customer receipt on our credit card machines.
The Restaurant
Energy
- The water from unfinished carafes is used to water our plants.
- We aim to use environmentally friendly cleaning products that reduce our plastic waste.
Hospitality products
- Our fresh juices, soft drinks and cocktails (with or without alcohol) are prepared on site.
- Our menu is elaborated and adapted by our chef according to local seasonal products provided to us by our partner Mestiza de India, an organic farm located in the Yucatan.
Suppliers and partnerships
- Recycling of glass bottles.
- Our honey is produced and harvested in the Yucatan Peninsula by Mayan communities. This honey is part of a pre-Columbian ancestral cultural tradition.
- Mestiza de India, an organic farm in the Yucatan offering seasonal products.
Sève reflects the richness of Mexican craftsmanship.
Long before the land was cleared, when the project was still only a vision, one idea had already become an obvious guiding principle: to reuse and elevate everything the natural environment had to offer. At that stage, we did not yet know exactly which materials, stones, textures, or natural elements we would discover, but this intention was already an essential part of the project’s DNA.
From the very beginning, this vision guided every decision: working with the resources already present on the land while prioritizing materials, craftsmanship, and creations sourced from across Mexico. A large part of the natural elements discovered on the property were preserved, transformed, and reinterpreted into different decorative forms. Some stones and pieces of wood still remain today in their original location, naturally integrated into the architecture and throughout the spaces of the property.
This diversity of materials fueled our imagination and allowed us to create a project deeply connected to its environment. Every detail was designed to give these natural elements a second life through uses that are at once raw, artistic, and aesthetic.
Within this same philosophy, we chose to collaborate with artisans, artists, and workshops throughout Mexico. The onyx sinks come from Puebla, the rugs are woven in Teotitlán, a large part of our decoration was sourced and created in Francisco Uh May, while the jars and decorative objects come from Tepoztlán.
Our temazcal was created by an artisan from Mexico City, the suspended hammocks by an artist from Chemax, the stones used throughout the property come from Cobá, and the wood used for the façades comes from Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The project also came to life thanks to the valuable work of numerous artisans from Chetumal and Mérida.
Beyond an aesthetic choice, this approach reflects our desire to preserve traditional techniques, support local economies, and create a place deeply rooted in its territory.
We believe a place gains its soul when it is built with what surrounds it, by the hands of those who intimately understand their land and their craftsmanship.
